How to Get to the Krka National Park?
Visiting Krka National Park
Krka National Park is a wonderful natural preserve and one of the most picturesque places in the Dalmatia region. The park encloses an area of 109 square kilometers and is situated along the river Krka. Like the Plitvice Lakes it also has great natural value and a preserved ecosystem. You can enjoy the travertine cascades of waterfalls, rivers, lakes and the large variety of flora and fauna.
There are more than 800 species of plants in the national park. You will also notice a lot of animal species which live mainly in and around the waters of the Krka River. The area also houses more than 200 species of birds. There are different monasteries located here as well, like the Serbian Eastern Orthodox Monastery and Roman Catholic Monastery, located on the small island of Visovac.
Another famous landmark within the preserve is the Roški slap waterfall. It’s a series of 12 waterfalls covering over 650 meters of length, 450 meters width and of around 22.5 meters of difference between them.
The walk around the whole park will take you between 2 and 3 hours depending on walking speed. There are many wooden paths and bridges along the route constructed in the park, which go through picturesque areas.

Best time to visit Krka National Park
Most of the park is open for visitors during the entire duration of the year. Each season will show you a different kind of beauty. I would recommend visiting Krka National Park during the spring, when the waters are lush and everything is colored in green. I would not recommend visiting during the summer. During the summer season, especially in July and in August, the park sells 10 000 tickets a day, making it extremely overcrowded. During the fall and the winter there are less people, so if you would like to enjoy the nature and the quiet, then this is your time.
